Helping Small Business Owners through Graphic Designing with Tabitha Emma

Tabitha Emma started her journey through the fashion industry. But after all sorts of creative ventures, from selling handmade products on Etsy to managing her own blog, she had her calling. It was graphic designing that she was genuinely loving and enjoying.

From that point onwards, she never stopped: our design enthusiast has done web design, illustration commissions, logo design, created recipe books, e-books, and design courses, and even took on freelance client work from time to time!

An epitome of productivity and multiple talents, for sure!

Currently, she is living in a rural foodie town in Australia, where she is either focusing on the intricacies of everyday life to churn some product out of it or taking care of her children's needs.

Tabitha was kind enough to share her success story with us, and we can’t wait to show it to our readers!

Where do you live? What do you love there?

I live in a country town in Australia known for its wine and apples. It's away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and that's what I love so much about it. The nature here is so calming and inspiring, which makes it less stressful and a nice place to raise our kids.

Plus, this town's raw and natural beauty makes it a perfect place to have adventures with my kids.

How did you become a Graphic Designer? What’s your story?

Creativity was always a part of my personality, which is why I have dabbled in many creative business ventures over the years.

Although I studied fashion right out of school, I soon realized that the fashion industry was not for me. In 2007, I discovered Etsy and started selling handmade products on it. I also began blogging to promote my business.

While the business was good, it wasn’t where my passion was. I realized that what I enjoyed most about this venture was designing for my blog and creating graphics and logos.

So, I went on to study graphic design while continuing to build my business and taking on freelance jobs. Since then, I have done a variety of design ventures and sold handmade skincare and hair accessories too.

In 2021, I was introduced to Canva after being a long-term Adobe user. Most of the people I was teaching design to and working for were using Canva. So, I started learning it and decided to develop Canva templates. And that’s where I am now!

What inspires your art?

I take inspiration from all over the place. I always have my designer eye out, noticing things like packaging, signs, textures, art buildings, nature, and books. I tend to see things that other people overlook, and I also like to collect things that inspire me in some way.

What is your daily process like?

I have young kids, so my daily process can be a bit messy. I like to start my day with some exercise and a healthy breakfast to keep myself fresh and energetic. Then, I usually check my email and look at the stats to see the overnight developments and my latest standings.

Then, it’s a mix of work and taking care of the kids. I think it’s actually good for my creativity, as stepping away and then coming back to things gives you a chance to mull over, and you see things with a fresh perspective.

Who buys your art from Social Media Calendar?

Most of my customers are small business owners looking to make their work a bit simpler.

As a long-term small business owner, I understand how a tool can prove to be life-saving for you. So, I am passionate about helping other small business owners and giving them templates, logos, customizable graphics, and courses that they can benefit from.

Having first-hand experience with what they are going through helps me be more strategic and thoughtful as I understand the marketing need of my audience.

Do you have any other jobs besides this one?

No, I am a full-time designer. Other than creating Canva templates, I also sell branding and design courses and do custom branding and design work for my clients. These ventures are merely a stream of graphic design, in my opinion.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully, with an ever-growing design business. I see myself helping business owners more impactfully and creating more and more resources to facilitate them in their branding and graphics.
