A Graphic Designer and A Traveler - The Best of Both Worlds!

Creating amazing designs and templates from her live-in van, Melody is an extremely skilled individual who loves her work as a graphic designer, helping entrepreneurs and online content creators while also fulfilling her passion for traveling, hiking, and rock climbing! She surely knows how to manage everything exquisitely.

Melody is a person of many talents, from making templates to doing Pinterest marketing for her clients, she aces in many things. She isn’t new to the field of graphic designing and her work speaks of her experience and intricate attention to detail.

Although it’s not an easy task to give time while doing so much, Melody was really kind to answer some of our questions to help us know her story:

How did you become a graphic artist?

Just like many other artists out there, Canva provided me with the platform that I needed to let my inner creativity out. And once I did, there was no turning back. It has been 5 years since I have been working in the field of graphic design. Not only did it allow me to get in touch with the artist inside of me, but it also provided me with the freedom to explore my other passions, especially traveling!

What inspires your art?

My designs are inspired by numerous little things that all add up to a final masterpiece. Food photography, specifically dark, moody, and aesthetic shots, is something that holds my interest. Apart from that, boho chic design styles that have modern design components are also a major source of inspiration for my work. Also, since I travel a lot, mainly thanks to the fact that I have a full-time live-in van that I drive around and work in, I am inclined towards the nature and earthy color palettes, which primarily include the green, brown, gray, and beige colors.

What is your daily process like?

As I mentioned before, my van is my home, #vanlife. The time and independence that graphic designing has brought me have allowed me to move around the US and explore the country. I love to create designs and templates for my clients but that's not my only passion.

The US has a vast terrain. I mostly travel to wild and rocky hills and when I am not working on my designs, you will most likely find me either hiking or doing rock climbing. My connection with nature is something you may find in my designs and color choice.

Who buys your art from SMC?

Although anyone can use my templates and designs, but my main customers are creative entrepreneurs. One advantage of having inspiration for my work from food photography is that a major portion of my sales is from food bloggers. Coaches also tend to like my templates.

Do you have any other jobs besides?

I do love to keep myself busy, whether it is with creating graphics on Canva or trying to reach the top of a rocky hill. However, when I am not doing either of these, I like to help bloggers grow their traffic through Pinterest marketing, which is a completely visual platform. I am very active on Pinterest myself as well, and you can find my account over here!

Can you tell me a bit more about your design theme/style?

Just like I have said earlier, I create boho chic design styles. The boho graphic designs basically combine bohemian and modern elements that exude a laid-back and free-spirited vibe. My designs also include Earth-tone color palettes as well as whimsical and elegant font pairings. Although my work is all digital, I do add hand-drawn illustrations to it to give it a more personalized touch.

You can visit my Instagram but I am much more active on Pinterest since that’s a platform that I also help others with.
